Microsoft Licensing Update: Business Premium 2026 Updates

Microsoft 365 Business Premium is entering 2026 with upgrades that change how mail, security, and AI fit into everyday operations.

The plan is gaining more storage, stronger baseline protections, and deeper Copilot integration across core Microsoft 365 apps. It is also one of the only Microsoft 365 plans staying at its current price when the July 1, 2026 adjustments take effect.

These updates aren’t surface‑level changes. A confirmed 50GB mailbox increase, expanded Copilot Chat experiences across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, and new administrative controls for AI usage signal a broader shift in how Microsoft expects organizations to operate. A temporary discount on the Business Premium and Copilot bundle reinforces that direction.

New Features Coming to Microsoft 365 Business Premium in 2026

Microsoft has confirmed a 50GB mailbox increase for Business Premium. This gives organizations more room to retain historical communication without relying on archiving workarounds or PST files. The update supports how teams use email as a long‑term record of decisions and activity.

Copilot Chat is also expanding across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. This creates a consistent conversational experience inside the applications where most daily work already happens.

Together, these updates strengthen Business Premium as an all‑in‑one productivity and management suite, with AI capabilities more tightly integrated into core tools.

How These Changes Affect Daily Workflows

The larger mailbox allocation reduces daily friction. Users see fewer full mailbox alerts and spend less time cleaning up space. Teams that rely on long email histories no longer need manual archiving or local files to keep work moving.

Copilot Chat inside Outlook and Teams speeds up routine communication. Summarizing long threads, drafting responses, and pulling key points from meeting recaps happen inside the same apps people already use. AI becomes part of the workflow rather than an extra step.

New AI visibility tools give administrators clearer insight into how Copilot is being used. This supports more intentional planning and helps leaders understand where AI is delivering value as adoption grows.

Business Premium and Copilot Bundle Discount Details

Microsoft is offering a temporary discount for organizations that purchase Microsoft 365 Business Premium together with Copilot for Business. During the promotional window, the combined offer is priced at $32 per user per month. Outside the promotion, the two licenses total $43 per user per month.

The promotion applies to annual commitments and is available for 10 to 300 seats. Eligibility is limited to organizations purchasing during the defined window.

Why Business Premium Pricing is Not Increasing on July 1, 2026

Most Microsoft 365 plans will see price adjustments on July 1, 2026, including Business Basic and Business Standard. Business Premium is one of the exceptions. It remains at $22 per user per month, even as new features are added.

This pricing stability gives organizations a predictable anchor as they plan for licensing changes. It also positions Business Premium as a steady option during a period of broader Microsoft pricing shifts.
