As AI tools continue to evolve, Microsoft is introducing new ways to make deep research more accessible to everyday users.
In this episode of Demystifying Microsoft, Wade Walker breaks down how Copilot Researcher, one of Microsoft’s pre-built agents, can act as a virtual teammate for your most complex research tasks.
Unlike Copilot Chat, which offers quick, context-aware responses, Copilot Researcher is designed for multi-step, strategic deep dives. It’s part of the Copilot for Microsoft 365 experience and can be found in the agent section. Think of it as an AI-powered research assistant that can:
Whether you're developing a new product or exploring market trends, Copilot Researcher helps you move beyond surface-level insights.
Copilot Researcher is designed for more than quick replies. It’s an interactive, context-aware agent that can handle multi-step research tasks. Unlike traditional AI chat tools, it engages in back-and-forth dialogue, asks clarifying questions, and builds out a structured research plan based on your input. It uses OpenAI’s 03 deep research model and advanced algorithms to generate detailed outputs, often resembling the kind of work you'd expect from a dedicated research team.
Copilot Researcher is designed for tasks that go beyond quick answers like product development, strategic planning, or deep market analysis. It uses both internal and external data, asks clarifying questions, and builds a multi-page research document based on your input. The process takes time, but the output is far more substantial than what you'd get from a typical AI chat.
